The interconnection queue has experienced significant growth over the past decade, leaving many projects stuck in the queue and unable to be developed. Interconnection process reform represents a huge opportunity to accelerate the development of a more reliable and distributed transmission grid. FERC Order 2023 was passed to and reduce uncertainty around infrastructure upgrades. But are Regional Transmission Organizations (RTO) able to adjust? What strategies are RTOs adopting to reduce bottlenecks and increase project development? What more can be done by all stakeholders to improve interconnection processes?
